Five CWC members from Morang
BIRATNAGAR, SEP 27 -
Five Nepali Congress (NC) leaders from Morang, the home district of late NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, have secured their seats in the party Central Working Committee (CWC).
The NC leaders and activists have been elated with the victory of five CWC members representing the district. Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Mahesh Acharya and Minendra Rijal emerged victorious under open category while Amod Prasad Upadhyay and Kabita Sardar were elected under zonal and Dalit woman categories respectively in the election for the party CWC held as part of its Central Working Committee (CWC).
The NC activists were anxious regarding the influence of the district in the NC central committee after the demise of Girija Prasad Koirala. “The victory of five CWC members form the district has made the people happy and it certainly energises the organisation here,” said Bhim Parajuli, the NC president of Biratnagar Sub-metropolis.
Three were three central members in the erstwhile CWC of the party from the district.
“The election victory once again brings happiness among the NC supporters who were saddened by Girijababu’s demise. The party will definitely be strong if the leaders love their home district in the future,” said Babu Raja Ojha, secretary of NC district committee.
Besides these five CWC members, two others members of the Koirala family--Dr. Shashank Koirala and Sujata Koirala--were also elected in the party’s central committee. But they continue their political career from Nawalparasi and Sunsari districts respectively.
