UML should support NC in next PM election: Bhandari
KASKI, SEP 10 -
Minister for Defense for the caretaker government Bidhya Devi Bhandari said on Friday that the CPN-UML should support the Nepali Congress in the election to the prime minister to resolve the prolonged political crisis.
Bhandari said the UML should support the NC in the next round of prime ministerial elections as the UCPN (Maoist) has not yet changed itself into a civilian party.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the Kaski chapter of Press Chautari, Bhandari said staying neutral in the election has benefited the Maoists and the autocrats.
She said, "Now the election will not be elongated, we have intensified parleys to resolve political crisis, UML will not stay neutral in the next run-off election."
Also on the occasion, Bhandari said the Maoist-led government is not possible until it rehabilitates its combatants and returns confiscated property.
In another context, she said United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) should not be allowed to supervise Nepal Army.
