Maoist CC meeting deferred until Saturday
KATHMANDU, SEP 10 -
The UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee meeting scheduled for Friday has been put off again.
The meeting has been deferred until Saturday after differences surfaced among the party leaders on the issue of elections for the post of prime minister.
There was a brief meeting of the office bearers held at Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Nayabazar this morning. During the gathering, Maoist Vice Chairmen Mohan Baidya, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, among other leaders, suggested the party leadership withdraw candidacy from the election and process for forwarding a consensus candidate.
The Bhattarai faction wants a breakdown of the ongoing poll process but the Dahal faction is against this line, the source said.
Party leaders have disagreements on various issues pertaining to internal party politics, government formation and the peace process.
