Veterinary Dr. arrested on sex offence charge
BIRATNAGAR, SEP 07 -
The Chief of Morang District Veterinary Office, Dr. Udaya Pratap Singh has been arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting an assistant level women staffer. Police arrested him after a sexual offence charge was filed against him.
Singh was on the run since Sunday after ‘the victim’ filed a complaint against him alleging that the chief sexually assaulted her time and again since April, 2010 and subsequently terminated her for not yielding to his seduction.
Police team had not been able to track down the alleged offender, despite carrying out a massive search throughout Sunday.
Singh was arrested on Monday and the investigation procedure has been initiated, District Police Office (DPO), Morang informed. He has been detained at DPO.
The victim woman revealed the abuse inflicted upon her after she was sacked from her job last week.
After the office chief was embroiled into controversy, Regional Animal Office Chief Dr. Yogendra Yadav had earlier tried to resolve the issue by holding discussion with both sides. The issue moved to the police after both remained adamant on their stand.
Singh has been suspended following the incident.
