Maoist likely to pull out from 8th PM elections
KATHMANDU, SEP 07 - The UCPN (Maoist) is likely to pull out from the electoral process provided that the prime ministerial elections slated for Tuesday at the Legislature-Parliament fails to yield an outcome.
The Maoist will not participate in the eighth round of the elections if today's election ends inconclusively, Maoist Secretary C.P. Gajurel informed.
However, Gajurel expressed confidence that Maoist Chairman and prime ministerial candidate Pushpa Kamal Dahal will garner majority votes in the election today.
Dahal is likely to achieve a clear majority with support from Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) and other fringe parties, he added.
Earlier, this week Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had said that his party would take a unilateral decision to give a way out to the country, saying that the country should not kept in a deadlock situation for a long time.
