15 families displaced by landslide in Taplejung
TAPLEJUNG, AUG 24 -
15 families have been displaced by landslide at Sadewa VDC of Taplejung district on Tuesday.
Three persons from a single family have gone missing in the landslide.
The missing have been identified as Aatahang Limbu, 65, his spouse Sukrani Limbu, 63, and their three-years-old granddaughter.
Families have been moved towards safety after the landslide swept away two houses from the area.
It has been learnt that rescue operations have been hindered by the incessant rainfall and frequent landslides in the area.
Police teams have been deployed for rescue purposes. A relief representative from the Red Cross will be leaving for the incident site, Ishwor Raj Regmi, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Taplejung informed.
Locals of VDCs 1, 2, 3 and 4, which are under the landslide threat, will be transferred to a safe place, Regmi added.
