Fake document racket busted

LALITPUR, AUG 23 - Police on Monday arrested a racket involving issuance of fake documents and academic certificates.

Based on a tip-off, a police team deployed by Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, arrested fake racket mastermind Surendra Bogati of Gorkha and his associate Prem Gurung from his Bagbazaar. Two other mediators— identified as Mahendra Singh Gurung and Sanjay Gurung— were arrested from Lalitpur.

Superintendent of Police Bikram Singh Thapa said Bogati was involved in producing every kind of forged documents of government and non-government organisation, police, army and academic certificates and selling them to prospective clients for hefty money.

Police confiscated 205 fake rubber stamps bearing the names of 205 government and non-government institutions, dozens of SLC certificates, driving licenses, character certificates, scanners and computers from Bogati's office. Thapa said the racket is the biggest gang involved in making forge documents operating in Kathmandu Valley.
