Jhapa on high alert against swine flu
BHADRAPUR, AUG 18 -
Jhapa is on a high alert against swine flu following the detection of the deadly disease in some places in the eastern region.
Such a move comes after the confirmation of swine flu virus on seven in Saptari, six in Morang, two in Ilam and two in Sunsari districts.
A team of health officials from Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Division under the Eastern Health Directorate conducted test on inmates of Bhadrapur prison.
Public health officer Mahendra Chaudhary said officials collected saliva and snot of eight prisoners and have sent to Kathmandu-based Nepal Public Health Laboratory.
Medicines were distributed to jailbirds suffering from whooping cough and health workers have been mobilised in the prison, he said.
The Jhapa health office has urged all people to use mask, not to shake hands, wash hands, stay one meter away while talking to others and consult doctors if caught cold.
