NEFIN urged to call off Sunday's strike
KATHMANDU, AUG 14 -
Tourism entrepreneurs and industrialists have appealed to Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) to call off the nationwide transportation strike scheduled for Sunday.
In the programme organised in the Capital on Saturday, Yogendra Shakya, Coordinator Nepal Tourism Year 2011 urged NEFIN to withdraw the strike, as it will hamper the tourism year and the normal life throughout the nation.
Such strikes will affect the economic and the private sector in the country, Surendra Bir Malakar, President of Nepal Chambers of Commerce (NCC) said, reminding everyone of the commitment made by the political parties to preclude such strike programmes.
However, NEFIN Chairman Raj Kumar Lekhi, has claimed that the strike is called to pressurise the political parties for drafting the new constitution at the earliest.
Ambulances, fire brigades, police vans and vehicles belonging to the press will not be obstructed, NEFIN informed.
