SAPTARI, AUG 12 - Saptari district is likely to face food shortage this year with paddy crop yet to be transplanted in over 40 percent of the paddy fields due to insufficient rainfall until the end of the month of Shrawan.
While much of the land is barren, the fields where paddy has been planted are drying up due to the lack of water. Almost 65 percent of the population is dependent on agriculture in the district.
