Buddha gifts Rs 1.5m
KATHMANDU, AUG 12 - Buddha Air on Wednesday donated Rs. 1.5 million to Dangihaat Bikas Nirman Samiti, Morang for social and education development of the area.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the airline presented the grant to the youth volunteers of the committee working on improvement of education, health, roads and forest conservation among other initiatives in the area.
The committee will get the funds in instalments with the first instalment amounting to Rs. 500,000. “The second instalment will be handed over to the committee after assessing the work performance and implementation result of the committee,” said Birendra Bahadur Basnet, managing director of the airline.
Basnet added that the gift of money was not pure charity but an initiative to make the youth of the area more responsible towards the development of their area. “We will carry out such projects in the coming years,” Basnet said.
President of the committee Salik Ram Basnet said that the funds would be utilized for development and improvement of education in the area as a first step. Gradually, the committee will expand to other social initiatives, he added.
