Karate team off to Japan
KATHMANDU, AUG 10 -
A team of Nepal Budokai Karate Association (NBKA) has left for Nagoya of Japan to take part in World Badokai Karate Championship beginning August 14.
Officials of NBKA saw off the Karate team at Tribhuvan International Airport Tuesday morning.
Hom Bahadur Lama, Rajendra Gautam, Aitaman Tamang, Narayan Bahadur Magar and Dev Lama are the Nepali players contending in the world event. They are competing in 60, 64, 70, 75, 80 and 84 kg weight categories, respectively. Man Bahadur Tamang is the coach and Singh Bahadur Tamang is the team manager.
Nepal has got the opportunity to participate in the competition as NBKA is a member of Japan Karate Federation. Sixty-two countries are taking part in the two-day championship.
