KATHMANDU, AUG 03 -

The agitating 11 student unions have called for transport strike in front of Tribhuvan University (TU) - affiliated campuses across the nation on Tuesday, protesting against the Proficiency Level Certificate (PCL) phase-out decision on Monday.

Vehicular movement in front of Patan, Bhaktapur, Mahendra Ratna, Saraswati, and RR campus in the Capital have been affected owing to the strike.

The traffic management in the Capital is likely to be disturbed throughout the day as strike timings are different for each campus.

Transportation strike of one-hour will be enforced outside each TU-affiliated campus for pressurising the TU to withdraw its PCL phase out decision, Mithileshwor Yadav, President of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L)-affiliated student union, informed.

Vehicular movement in front of Tahachal and Thimi Campus will be obstructed from 11 a.m. and the same will be done in front of four other campuses at Exhibition Road from 3 in the afternoon, student leader Suresh Mandal informed.

Meanwhile, Bachelors of Law (BL) third year examination at Tahachal Campus has been affected due to the commotion.

However, the student unions did not intend to disturb the examination, Mandal has claimed.

He appealed to the government to initiate investigations regarding the examination obstruction.

The 11 student unions have been carrying out phase-wise protests demanding the TU open admission in the PCL for the new session.
