(0 Votes)

KATHMANDU, AUG 02 - The Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM), an alliance of Madhes-based parties, has not decided yet on whether it will support the UCPN (Maoist) in the third run-off elections on Monday.

Emerging from the meeting, Maoist Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the meeting dwelt on the 16-point concept paper of the SLMM and his party's response on the same.

SLMM has been further clarified on the Maoists’ stand on their demands. However the SLMM has not made the final decision regarding its support in today's prime ministerial runoff elections, Shrestha added.

“We are hopeful that SLMM will vote in favour of our party candidate,” Shrestha said.

The final decision will be taken after holding internal discussions, SLMM said the Moaists.

Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Maoist vice chairmen, and top leaders of the parties represented in the SLMM were present at meeting.

SLMM's support to the Maoists will be decisive in the formation of a Maoist-led government.

The third run-off election for the prime minister’s post is scheduled for 4 p.m. today afternoon.

CPN-UML is still staying neutral in today’s election.
