Gachhadar warns lawmakers to abstain temptation
KATHMANDU, AUG 02 - Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik (MJF-L) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has directed the party lawmakers not to be tempted by large amounts of money for voting the prime ministerial candidate scheduled for later today.
During a meeting of the MJF-L parliamentary party on Monday, Chairman Gachhadar said the decision on the support to the prime minister’s candidate taken by the SLMM will be the last decision of his party, a leader participating in the meeting said.
MJF-L is one of the constituents of the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) and commands 28 seats in the Constituent Assembly.
He assertively said that his party would not compromise on the demand of ‘One Madhes One Province’.
Earlier on Saturday, a senior leader in the SLMM had said that the Maoists have started horse-trading in the CA.
“We have been getting reports that Maoists are offering large amounts of money to lure lawmakers asking for their support,” said a source adding that Maoists have challenged that they would anyhow split the SLMM alliance. “In this situation how can we vote for them,” the leader added.
