UML youth demand disciplinary action against Bhandari
KATHMANDU, JUL 29 - Youth leaders of the CPN-UML from Lalitpur district have charged party Vice Chairperson and Defence Minister Bidhya Bhandari with making statements against the party code and demanded disciplinary action against her.
UML youth leaders including Youth Federation central member Saraswati KC, UML Lalitpur district committee member Umesh Sharma Bajgai, youth leader Swayambhuraj Dangol, Lalitpur Youth Federation In-charge Ramsingh Maharjan, Dilendra Mulmi, among others, presented a letter to party's Disciplinary Commission Chairman Amrit Bohara demanding immediate action against Bhandari.
We demanded disciplinary action against her as Bhandari has been making statements going against the party's policies notwithstanding the position she holds, Dangol told eKantipur.
Earlier this week, Bhandari, in an interview with a weekly paper, had said that the UML should support Nepali Congress (NC) in the prime ministerial election citing NC's support in the government formation as a major coalition ally.
Bhandari's statement, however, clashes with UML's decision to stay neutral in the prime ministerial election that has been pushed for a second runoff.
In the first prime ministerial election, Madhav Kumar Nepal, who acted nominator for party's prime ministerial candidate, withdrew the candidature after failing to garner a two-thirds majority.
