Maoists warn of 'retaliatory strategy'
KATHMANDU, JUL 29 -
The UCPN (Maoist) has warned that it would adopt a 'retaliatory strategy' if the government failed to stop the series of murders of its cadres.
In a statement issued to condemn the murder of its cadre on Thursday, the Maoist spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma demanded that the murdered party cadrebe declared a martyr. An unidentified armed gang gunned down Yadav in the wee hours of Thursday morning in Bara district.
Sharma demanded an immediate investigation into the incident and action against the perpetrators.
"The party strongly demands government to declare Yadav a martyr and provide compensation to his family," read the statement. "Otherwise, the government should take the responsibility if the party or the people were forced to adopt a retaliatory approach for their security."
The party has declared Yadav 'pariwartankaami aandolan ko mahan sahid', a great martyr of revolutionary movement.
Stating that Yadav's murder is the latest in a series of murders of revolutionary leaders and cadres, the Maoists remarked that the government's failure to bring none of those involved in crimes under the purview of law has encouraged the criminals.
