700 families vulnerable to landslide in Myagdi

MYAGDI, JUL 29 -

Around 700 families of seven different villages in six VDCs of Myagdi district are at high risk of landslide.

The Safe Community through Disaster Risk Mitigation project launched by Nepal Red Cross Society, Myagdi, made public the data saying that 768 families are at high risk of landslides.

According to the data, 60 families at Torakhet and 220 families at Bhirmuni of Bhakimli VDC, 151 families at Jamunakharka of Arthunge VDC, 93 families in Okharbot and Rum VDCs, 101 families in Niskot and 143 families at Aula of Histan VDC are at high risk.

Different disaster risk mitigation programmes were organised in different places of the district to help the communities at high risk of river breaching and landslides, according to programme co-coordinator Amar Baniya. The programme is supported by Danish Red Cross Society.
