FNJ condems Dhital's murder; probe mission formed
KATHMANDU, JUL 23 - Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), the umbrella body of Nepali journalists, on Friday condemned the killing of Tulsipur FM Chairman Devi Prasad Dhital and formed a three-member probe panel led by FNJ General Secretary Poshan KC to look into the murder.
Dhital was shot dead by an unidentified gang on Thursday. Dhital, who had sustained three bullets, breathed his last on the way to Rapti Hospital in Tulsipur.
The inability of the security agencies to arrest culprits involved in the murder of Dhital has again exposed the lapse in governmental security system, an emergency meeting of the FNJ Central Working Committee held today concluded.
The meeting decided to send the probe panel comprising KC, FNJ Central member duo Prem KC and Janak Nepal to the incident site in Dang to find the truths behind the murder.
In a press statement issued today, the FNJ expressed sadness over the killing and stated that the killing has left the media fraternity stunned.
Expressing concerns over the killing, the emergency meeting has condemned the government’s failure to guarantee the security of media persons, media house, media entrepreneurs and general public.
The murder of Dhital in Dang which took place within a short span of time after the killing of media entrepreneurs Jamim Shah in Kathmandu, Arun Singhania in Janakpur has raised a serious question on the security of the common people and their property.
The FNJ has demanded the government immediately book the murders of Dhital by investigating the incident and take steps for the necessary action against the culprit.
The mission, which left for Dang today, has started investigation into the murder, probe mission member Nepal said.
