Integration should not be done in haste: UCPN (Maoist)
UML holds discussion with Madhes-based parties
KATHMANDU, JUL 05 -
The main opposition UCPN (Maoist) has said that the army integration process cannot be carried out in a haste saying that it is a complex process. They have also urged all the stakeholders not to link the army integration process with the issue of government formation.
Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said so during a meeting with Nepali Congress (NC) leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Shekhar Koirala and Amreshkumar Singh at his residence in Nayabazaar on Monday.
The Maoists remarks comes at a time when the non Maoist parties have been pressing the party to decided on the number of combatants to be integrated in the Nepal Army.
During the meeting, the NC leaders had urged the Maoist chairman to implement the first point of the May 28 three-point agreement saying that the other two points have been implemented.
The NC leaders had also urged Dahal to come up with a clear action plan on the integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants.
Also present at the meeting, Maoist Vice Chairman Nayarankaji Shrestha said the action plan on the integration and rehabilitation process can be formed only after taking consent of all the cantoned fighters.
UML holds discussion with Madhes-based parties
Meanwhile, the major ally of the outgoing coalition, CPN-UML, held discussion with three Madhes-based political parties—Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party and Nepal Sadbhawana Party.
In the meeting held at UML parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar today, the parties reportedly discussed the formation of a national consensus government.
Emerging from the meeting, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal informed that discussions on national consensus government have been initiated.
We are promptly aware of the fact the majority government could not make progress in the peace process.
