GORKHA, JUN 28 -
Local administration at Gorkha has beefed up security in the district following the series of attacks by the Young Communist League (YCL), UCPN (Maoist) youth front, on Nepali Congress (NC) activists.
YCL men have been assaulting NC activists in the district over a dispute on the appointment of the management committee at Ghyampesal-based Dullav Higher Secondary School since the past three days.
The administration has deployed 75 police personnel under the command of one each inspectors from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) at Ghyampesal, which remained tense throughout Saturday.
According to DSP Gorakh Singh Bhandari, two separate teams of Nepal Police and APF have been in the area since this morning.
Following the security management, the situation is gradually returning to normalcy, Bhandari said.
"As long as the NC and Maoists sit for a formal dialogue and sort out the issue, the situation will not simmer down completely," said DSP Bhandari adding, "We won't pull out our forces until the situation improves."
The NC and Maoists, however, have not been able to sit for a dialogue over the issue.
