NA defuses tin bomb in Dang
DANG, JUN 16 -
A can bomb planted at the main entrance of Internal Revenue Office of Tulsipur has been defused by the bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army on Wednesday morning.
Had the bomb exploded as intended by the planters, it would have caused damage the area up to 50 meters, the disposal squad said. The explosives went off twice during the course of disposal.
According to Area Police Tulsipur, the explosives were packed in an enamel tin that had ‘CPN-MLM’ and ‘Danger’ written on it. The bomb might have been placed by CPN-MLM, police said.
Different underground groups are active in Tulsipur area for the past two months. These groups have been carrying out illegal activities such as bombing, extortion, forced donations, and threatening people.
CPN-MLM had detonated a bucket bomb earlier on May 9 at local Tilak Khadka’s house at Tulsipur Municipality. Though police had arrested nine persons in for their alleged involvement, such activities seem to continue.
