No alternative to executing May 28 deal: Nemwang
DOLAKHA, JUN 11 -
Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Nemwang Friday said there is no alternative to implementing the three-point agreement reached on May 28 to conclude the peace process and constitution drafting.
Political parties are positive to implement the agreement, Nemwang said while inaugurating the 34th meeting of Nepal Bar Association, Central Executive Council, in Dolakha today.
“Implementation of the agreement has been difficult as parties have been defining it as per on their own vested interests,” said CA chair. He urged the main parties to move ahead responsibly.
While expressing his concern over deepening mistrust among the parties, Nemwang said the statute-drafting process has been delayed due to failure to forge agreement on the contentious political issues including army integration. “The CA failed to draft the new constitution within two years because of lack of consensus on some crucial issues including state restructuring and forms of governance.”
