NC sets conditions for natl govt
KATHMANDU, MAY 30 -
The major coalition ally Nepali Congress (NC) on Sunday reiterated that a national government would be formed only after the UCPN (Maoist) transforms itself into a "civilian party".
The Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting of the NC held at Singhadurbar today concluded that the path for the formation of a new government would be open only after the Maoists fix the number of combatants to be integrated, return the captured properties and disband the YCL's paramilitary structure.
The NC concluded that it cannot support the Maoists under current circumstances.
During the meeting convened to form party's strategy after the extension of Constituent Assembly's term, NC PP leader Ramchandra Poudel appraised the party lawmakers about the agreement reached with the Maoists on Friday.
The meeting decided to lay special focus on completing the constitution within the extended deadline, NC lawmaker Uma Regmi informed.
