PAC directs to turn Mid-Marsyangdi into company
KATHMANDU, MAY 25 -
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Legislature-Parliament has directed to convert the Mid-Marsyangdi hydropower project from a corporation into a company as a the public private partnership.
Endorsing a study report prepared by a subcommittee, the PAC meeting on Tuesday directed to operate the project in accordance with Company Act.
The meeting has also pointed out the need for enlisting the company in the share market.
The subcommittee report has also underlined that no project should be launched without proper action plan or design, the Mid-Marsyangdi project should be established in partnership between the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the locals, the NEA should sell the produced electricity, and the tax amount that increased due to the 10-year-old conflict should be exempted.
Today's PAC meeting has also decided to table its 16th report of the committee after 1991 at the parliament, PCA Chairman Ram Krishna Yadav informed
