BAITADI, MAY 16 -

Even as the other political parties continue to raise doubt about the UCPN (Maoist)’s action and speech, the Maoist cadres have started keeping records of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML activists in Baitadi district.

The Maoists have launched the statistics collection by setting up “one cell” for every three wards of each VDC in the district, said a Maoist activist on Sunday.

Following the suspension of the general strike after six days, the Maoists, whose leaders’ speeches are marked by the warning of decisive revolt, have been imparting training party cadres in far-flung villages of the district.

Saying that the Maoist agitation will be launched for a second time, the Maoist activists have intensified donation drive. Teachers are the ones to be at the receiving end as the Maoist have demanded Rs. 500 each from three thousand teachers of five hundred schools across the district.

Likewise, the Maoists have also ordered the families of Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel to compulsorily participate in the agitation that will be launched from May 25. “We’ve been told to mandatorily go to the district headquarters on May 25,” said a relative of one security person adding,” The Maoists have warned that we might face difficulties if we do not participate in their agitation.”

In the district, the Maoist activists have increased demonstration and have launched a campaign to disseminate information about the upcoming agitation program of the party by forming ‘cell’ which are active in different villages of the district.
