Expedite army integration, urges UNMIN
KATHMANDU, MAY 14 -
The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) has urged the government and the Maoists to expedite the army integration process and cooperate with Special Committee on Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.
Issuing a press statement in Kathmanu on Friday, the UNMIN has urged all the stakeholders to take the peace process to a logical conclusion by ending inter-party differences.
The UN peace body expressed its serious concern over the political crisis of Nepal, saying that the inter-party dispute has imperiled the peace process and constitution-drafting.
UNMIN commended the Maoists' general strike withdrawal as a constructive step towards ending the deadlock. But it has expressed its concern over the recent political developments as the stalemate continues even after the Maoists have called off their strike.
