ANNISU-R thrashes UML students over peace rally

BHAKTAPUR, MAY 09 -
Students affiliated with UCPN (Maoist) student wing, All Nepal National Independent Students' Union- Revolutionary (ASNNISU-R), of Sanothimi Campus in Bhaktapur have thrashed students associated with ANNFSU, the student wing of CPN-UML, for participating in the peace rally organised on Friday.
ANNFSU campus unit president Pawan Karki was injured in the Maoist students’ atack. He sustained deep injuries in the head and face and is undergoing treatment at Gatthaghar-based Civil Hospital. According to Karki, a team of 12 students led by ANNISU(R)’s Ramesh Dhakal and Manoj Neupane beat him up.
The group has also warned of thrashing other students, too, for joining the rally, said ANNFSU’s Bhaktapur district chairman Santosh Khadka.
However, the ANNISU (R) denied the charge.
