JWP’s Khotang terror spree
KHOTANG, MAY 08 - Even as the indefinite general strike of the UCPN (Maoist) continues to cripple the country, the terror spread by the Janawadi Workers’ Party (JWP) in Khotang has left people panic-stricken.
JWP had taken responsibility for the attack on Nunthala Police Post on Tuesday night. It has now launched a donation drive in the district.
The party, which has pledged moral support to the Maoists’ strike, had planted explosives on the district court premises on Sunday. It has also threatened to continue attacks in 14 districts of Eastern Nepal.
“Our attacks are meant to limit the government to the headquarters only,” said party chairman Bidroha Bibas.
Meanwhile, police have begun a search operation to nab those involved in the Nunthala attack. Security personnel have been pressed into service to search for the attackers in Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Udaypur and Bhojpur districts also.
According to CDO Keshav Raj Acharya, DIGs Bhisma Prasain and Jeevan Thapa had inspected the Nunthala post.
Following the attack, the police also seized explosives from Nunthala. “Explosives, wires and combat uniforms have been seized from a house in Nunthala,” Acharya said.
