Maoists returning homes on daily basis
BHAKTAPUR, MAY 06 -
At least 1,000 UCPN-Maoist cadres who were brought to the capital for the Maoist general strike from different districts have been returning homes daily.
They have been returning via Araniko Highway, Tathali and Nala. Some of the activists have been using short routes via Ashapuri and Kushadevi of the district to return to their homes.
The Maoists had brought the supporters from Kavre, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Dolakha and Sindhupalchok. They have been returning homes in groups, saying that they have works pending in their homes.
They said they are returning back to their homes and it would take two to five days for them to reach home.
They complained that they were brought to the capital for May Day rally but they were kept stranded for nearly a week. They also said that they were asked for “either to donate money or to send a member from each family to attend the strike”.
Those men and women on the way back said they decided to return home as they faced food and shelter problems in the capital and they started suffering from different diseases.
