BARDIYA, APR 30 -

A bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army (NA) on Friday defused a bomb planted in the house of Binod Agrawal, Campus Chief of Babai Campus, at Gulariya in Bardiya district.

Agrawal alleged that some members of All Nepal National Independent Students' Union-Revolutionary, student wing of the UCPN (Maoist), planted the bomb in his home.

"They did so in a fit of rage after I denied their demand for donation," the campus chief said.

The bomb, hanged in the gate of Agrawal's house last night, was disposed this morning at 10 am by the army team led by Capt Rekha Khatri from Chhar Bahini Barrack, Nepalgunj.

In another incident, police recovered about 30 small bombs kept hidden in sacks at Padanaha-5.

Dilli Chaudhary, a local, found the homemade bombs while he was ploughing his field.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer of Bardiya Beni Madhav Gywali said security personnel have been kept on high alert ahead of the mass protest and indefinite strike announced by the Maoist.
