KATHMANDU, APR 27 - Police arrested three persons and recovered a pistol used in Monday’s Thamel shooting in which one Chhiring Gurung was injured.

Police seized the pistol and two motorcycles from the house of the shooter's girlfriend Maya Gurung in Kirtipur. However, police failed to round up the shooter, Ajay Gurung -- gangster Deepak Manange’s brother -- after someone alerted him to impending police action, said Police Inspector Rukma Shumsher Kunwar, in-charge of Metropolitan Police Sector, Sorhakhutte.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided Maya's house where the Ajay was hiding. They arrested Maya and some others on the charge of hiding the culprit. In the wee hours of Monday, Ajay opened fire at Chirring in Thamel area over a minor dispute. Chhiring, who sustained bullet injuries in his legs, is undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital. On Monday, police arrested Manange’s another brother Babi Gurung and two others in connection with the incident.
