Ministerial committee to oversee Banspani report
KATHMANDU, APR 18 -
The government on Sunday formed a five-member ministerial level committee to oversee the report prepared by the investigation committee on the Banspani incident and its implementation.
The Cabinet meeting held today formed the committee with members including Defence Miniser Bidhya Bhandari, Home Minister Bhim Rawal, Forest Minister Deepak Bohara, Peace Minister Rakam Chemjong and Culture Minister Minendra Rijal.
Earlier on Thursday, the investigation committee had tabled its report to the House on the March 10-Banspani incident where three women including a 12-year-old were killed when Nepal Army personnel opened fired at them inside the Bardiya National Park.
National Human Rights Commission, Women, Children and Social Welfare Committee of the Cabinet and other rights organisations had pointed the finger at the NA men and recommended action against them.
The NA, however, has been refuting the allegations and has been claiming that the deceased women were poachers and killed in retaliation.
