Sahukhala demolishes Jawalakhel
KATHMANDU, APR 11 -
Santosh Sahukhala’s four-goal haul led Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) to 6-0 win over neighbours Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club as Three Star closed in on the top two teams in the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League at the Dashrath Stadium on Saturday.
Leaders New Road Team, meanwhile, suffered a major upset when they were held to a goal-less draw by local rivals and strugglers Sankata Kathmandu Mall Club in the first match of the day.
Three Star, who were held to a 1-1 draw by the Armed Police Force in their previous fixture, knew they could not manage another slip-up if they were to stay in the title hunt, and their cause got a major boost when Jawalakhel were reduced to nine-man on the stroke of half time. Hem Gurung was red carded for a foul on Jocelyn Morgan Pierce in the 45th minute before skipper Raj Kumar KC followed him to the dressing room for protesting against Gurung’s red card decision.
Three Star remained at third with 25 points but have the top two leaders, NRT on 28 points and NPC, two points behind NRT, strongly in sight. Sankata are still in the drop zone with seven points.
Sahukhala got his first of the day in the half hour mark when he connected a cross from Bijay Gurung. To sideline even a full strength Jawalakhel was not a tough job for Three Star, but once they got the numerical advantage, they did it in style bagging the remaining five goals after the interval. Sahukhala got his second in the 57th minute before Castory Mumbara scored the third for the team 11 minutes later. Jocelyn Morgan Pierce was also on the mark in the 74th minute. Sahukhala added two more goals in the 90th and 91st minute.
With the four goals today, Sahukhala took his personal tally to 15 goals in 13 matches and also registered his name as the only player to score four goals in a single match twice this season. He had earlier achieved the mark against NIB Friends.
In the first match of the day, a reinforced NRT were held to a goal less draw by local Sankata Club. NRT fielded both their new Brazilian signings Gabriel Dasilva and Leandro Dasilva but both of them were given a run for their money by the Sankata back four, who put up an improved performance than their previous games.
Sankata goalie Suman Legal was at his best denying Gabriel three consecutive attempts in the 84th minute.
