KATHMANDU, APR 10 - Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) climb up two positions to fourth when a last gasp goal from Hiranya Magar earned a 1-0 victory over Machhindra Club while Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) took revenge of their first leg defeat as they stunned Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) 2-1 in the second leg to climb up one position to seventh in the Martyrs' Memorial San Miguel A Division League football tournament on Friday.
Hiranya Magar scored the only goal of the match one minute from time from a close range to earn all three points for Army from the match which was looking to finish in goalless draw.
Army dominated the match and Machhindra were nowhere in the match for the first half hour. The first shot on target for Machhindra came only on the 33rd minute as Naresh Pokhrel fired powerful shot on the top-left corner but Army's golie Bikash Malla managed it to push above the bar. Army started their attack from as early as second minutes when Raju Tamang shot went out brushing the cross-bar followed by Amrit Basnet's attempt denied by keeper in the fifth minute.
Karna Limbu had a chance to give Machhindra lead in the 44th minute in a one-to-one encounter but the first half finished in a goalless draw as Limbu managed only to kick a loose shot wide of post.
Machhindra played a improved game in the second half but lack of understanding between the local and foreign players cost them the match.
Army have 19 points from 12 games while Machhindra are on eighth position with 15 points.
In the first match of the day, Deepak Rai's goal in the 72nd minute helped avenge the first leg 1-0 defeat for RCT. Rai struck a killer blow from 22 yards which went curling past MMC's goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha to gain important three points for RCT.
RCT took the lead in the 33rd minute when Yogesh Rai struck a rebounded ball home from close range but Ganesh Khadka equalised for MMC in the injury time of first half to finish the first half in 1-1 draw.
MMC are on sixth position with 18 points ahead of RCT who have 17 points.
