Special committee to hold consultation with major three parties

KATHMANDU, APR 09 -

Special Committee for the Integration, Supervision and Rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants has decided to hold talks with the major six parties coming Monday.

The Special Committee meeting held Friday morning decided to hold consultations with the leaders of the major parties including—the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Nepal), Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party and the MJF-Loktantrik to apprise them of its works executed so far and to consult on the serious issues in which the committee members have failed to forge consensus, committee member Minendra Rijal informed.

The committee is yet to make conclusion on the number of combatants to be integrated, rehabilitation package, standards for the Maoist fighters who want to join the security forces, among other issues.

The prime minister’s 112-day action plan to complete the integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants has been reduced to 30 days following the differences on the issues.
