KATHMANDU, APR 06 -

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday said that his party is not eyeing the power but the support of the people. He added that the current-government is the conspiracy against the federalism, republic and the people’s aspirations.

Addressing the mass gathering organised in the capital as part of the Maoists’ fourth phase protest for the establishment of civilian supremacy and national independence, the Maoist chairman said the ongoing Maoist agitation is against those rightist and regressive forces, who he dubbed as ‘ghosts’, that are raising heads against the change.

Dahal went on to claim that conspiracies are rife to wipe out the Maoists by provoking Hindu against secularism.

He said Nepali people are capable enough to fight back those ‘ghosts’. “Nepali people’s one mantra is enough to chase those ghosts. That mantra is people’s revolt and unity,” said Dahal.

Solution to crisis

Prachanda reiterated that this is the first phase of the decisive agitation to raise the Maoist issues. “We won’t stop unless the agitation that has began in all 27 district reaches its decisive point,” said Dahal.

The Maoist chairman remarked that the peace process and the statue drafting can be completed within one-and-half month if the parties are strongly committed for the same and act honestly as per the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

Dahal observed that the political parties are striving to dissolve the Constituent Assembly (CA). He demanded that the current government be dissolved and a new national government be formed as major two conditions for timely completion of the statue drafting and the peace process.

“I want to make one thing clear, i.e. we won’t cooperate with this government at any cost unless this government is toppled,” said Dahal.

MRPs shamelessness

Condemning the government for granting the contract to print the Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) to India, Dahal said the government shamelessly grabbed the right of the Parliament on such an issue of national sensitivity.

“No nation in the world gives passport printing contract to the neighbouring country,” said Dahal.

Ties with India

The Maoist chairman, who had openly invitation to Delhi—Indian central administration—for direct talks, said his party is not against India and want to develop the ties between the country.

He remarked that the treaties signed between India and Nepal is not in favour of people of both the countries. “We want high esteem of both the nations.”
