KATHMANDU, MAR 24 -
Minister for Health and Population Umakant Chaudhary on Wednesday said that the mental health policy will be implemented soon.
While inaugurating the psychiatrists’ conference in the capital, Chudhary said the ministry has formed a committee for the implementation of the policy.
There is a need to include the mental health problem in the public health problems’ list, he said, adding, production of trained manpower should be stressed to address the mental health problem.
Speaking at the same programme, Health and Population State Minister Khadga Bahadur Basyal said impact of the mental health problem has been seen on economic and social development.
Nepal Medical Association (NMA) chairman Jagdish Narsingh KC demanded to include the mental health problem in public health problem.
During the session, doctor duos Dhesh Raj Bahadur Kunwar and Nirakarman Shrestha were also felicitated. Some 45 psychiatrists are taking part in the two-day conference.
