Nepal ''needs Koirala for peace process''
KATHMANDU, MAR 20 -
Senior Maoist leaders who went to see ailing Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala at Mandikhatar on Saturday morning said that the country needs him till the conclusion of peace process. The octagenarian leader who fell unconcious Saturday morning is undergoing treatment at his daughter Sujata's residence in Mandikhatar in the capital.
After seeing him this morning, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that Koirala could not respond to his visitors. "The country needs him till the conclusion of ongoing peace process and constitution drafting."
Maoist Vice Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said, "Don't think bad. We need him for the peace process."
Koirala is the key player in bringing the Maoists, who had taken to armed insurgency, to the mainstream politics.
