RCT find rare winning rhythm

The results of Friday’s match has opened equal chances for the teams at the bottom of the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League. The four teams at the bottom of the points table- RCT, Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club (SJYC), Boys Union and Sankata played their matches and the results have made the struggle of these teams to avoid the last two spot even more interesting.
In the first match of the day, RCT, slotted at the tenth position, took on the eight seeded SJYC. Despite having begun their sojourn at the league on a high, RCT had a few hiccups recently. However, the 3-1 result in their favour helped them climb to the tenth position with eight points.
RCT had to wait till the second half to get things going in their favour. Buddha Lama opened the account for them in the 58th minute. Prabesh Katwal converted a back pass from Dipesh to make it 2-1 in the 69th minute. Deepak Rai struck in the 87th minute to make it 3-0. Sunil Raut scored the consolation goal for SJYC four minute prior to stoppage time.
RCT’s coach Madhu Karki said second half performance helped them bag the match. “We had almost forgotten how to win,” a jubilant Karki said, “ I hope this win will get us back to winning ways.”
Likewise, Sankata rooted at the bottom defeated Boys Union, also in the relegation zone 3-2. The result swapped the places of the two teams. Sankata leaped up to the second last position with six points while Boys Union descended to the last with five points.
Sankata, who were 0-1 bounced back to upgrade their position. Tanka Basnet’s goal in the sixth minute had Boys Union ahead. A brace from Santosh Shrestha put Sankata on top. Santosh scored in the 13th and 26th minute. Ram Krishna G.C. added the third in goal in 73rd minute.
