KATHMANDU, MAR 20 -
After the official announcement of Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala's death, thousands of people thronged Mandikhatar area in Kathmandu where lies the residence of Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala to express their support to the veteran leader and pay last tribute to him on Saturday. Koirala breathed his last soon after the noon.
Those who have gathered included include NC workers, supporters, leaders of various political parties, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, commoners, and mediapersons.
People lined up for hours to pay their last respects to the late leader.
Media reported live the national tragedy which the leaders have called a 'colossal damage' to the nation.

Home Minister Bhim Rawal said the demise of Koirala has left a void in the guardian's role that he has been carrying out in Nepal's politics.
Likewise, Minister for Supplies Rajendra Mahato said the loss was irreparable, and the only true tribute to late NC President will be the successful conclusion of the peace process and constitution drafting.
