President Yadav pays last tribute to Koirala
Prez calls on to pursue the path of conensus showny by Koirala
KATHMANDU, MAR 20 -
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav offered his last respect to Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala at Mandikatar, Kathmandu on Saturday.
Koirala passed away at his only daughter's residence in Mandikatar at 12:10 this afternoon after a long battle with respiratory problems.
He said late Koirala has played vital role in the country’s democratic movement and all of us (Nepalil people) should regard it as incomparable contribution.
The president remarked that Koirala took the leadership of the People’s movement II that brought an end to the armed politics and the tyrannical rule.
He appealed to everyone to pursue the path of conensus to institutionalise the peace process.
Noting that that Koirala has shown the path of consensus to institutionalise democracy through a peaceful way, President said, “This is the right path for us (Nepali).”
He said the Nepali people should work together and follow the path shown by late Koirala to defeat the armed politics and authoritarianism.
“Institutionalisation of the peace process and promulgation of the new constitiuon by treading on the path shown by Koirala would be the proper way to express condolence to Koiral,” said Dr Yadav, talking to media at Mindikatar, before offering his last respect to Koirala.
Earlier, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav announced the cancellation of all his official programmes scheduled for Saturday and Sunday to mourn the death of Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala.
