Girija Prasad Koirala in grave condition, falls unconscious

KATHMANDU, MAR 20 - Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala's health condition has been further worsened on Saturday morning, and he went to unconscious state.
Doctors have increased the level of oxygen given to him at the residence of his daughter Sujata, where he is living.
According to Dr. Arjun Karki, who is involved in Koirala's treament, the leader is in critical condition after he fell unconscious at 5 a.m. in the morning. He said antibiotics are being administered to control the infection in his lungs, and expressed his hope of gradual recovery. He is a patient of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Senior neurophysician Prof. Dr. Jagadish P. Agrawal said that Koirala has no eye reflex. "But the result of blood tests is satisfactory."
According to Nepali Congress leader Taranath Ranabhat, who went to see him, Koirala is in unconscious state and could not respond to the visitors who greeted him.
A team of senior doctors including Prof. Agrawal, Dr. Karki and Dr. Man Bahadur K.C. are involved in his treatment.
Koirala suffered from a bout of diarrohea on Thursday night, and became weak and encountered severe difficulties in breathing.
Earlier, the octogenarian leader was discharged from Sahid Gangalal Heart Centre after his health condition showed signs of improvement on Wednesday.
He has been taking rest at his daughter Sujata Koirala's residence following his discharge from the hospital.
Koirala was rushed to the hospital in Bansbari on Sunday evening after the level of haemoglobin in his blood dropped and he complained difficulties in breathing.

Koirala's grandniece and popular Bollywood actress Manish Koirala is also there.
