Dailekh bus mishap toll reaches 33

SURKHET, MAR 19 -

The number of people killed in a bus mishap in Dailekh on Thursday has reached 33.

Among the injured, two more died on Friday.

The bus (Na 3 Kha 5868) of Kakrebihar Travels bound for Birendranagar of Surkhet from Manma of Kalikot skidded off the road in Piplakot and plunged into Karnali River.  The rescue operation that was stopped since Thursday evening has been resumed from Friday morning.

A team of 13 Armed Police Force personnel has continued the search operation. It is estimated that the death toll will increase ahead. Among the dead, five are yet to be identified.

Though the bus had left Kalikot with 42 passengers, it is yet to be confirmed how many passengers were traveling in the bus, as it had picked up passengers on the way, too.

The accident site lies in a two-day trek from the Dailekh district headquarters and around 100 km far from Surkhet.
