PM Nepal, Prachanda discuss political riddles

KATHMANDU, MAR 18 -

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' discussed the current political situation and the ways to sort through the riddles facing the country on Thursday morning.

Dahal, who has been intensifying parleys with the top political figure in recent times, went to prime minister's residence at Koteshwor this morning.

During the meeting,  Prachanda stressed on the need to forge a national consensus for the succesful completion of the statute drafting and the peace process.

In response, the prime minister said all the political parties must be serious on the vital issues and work for the same.

Emerging from the meeting, the Maoist chairman said he discussed the ways to defuse the political stalemate.

Likewise, the prime minister said he urged Dahal to give priority to constitution drafting, integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants.

Dahal had also alerted the prime minister that the country will have to face serious consequences if new constitution is not drafted within the May 28 deadline.

Dahal had also met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala, among other high profile leaders, on Wednesday in an attempt to end the deadlock.
