KATHMANDU, MAR 18 - President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Wednesday appointed Manohar Prasad Bhattarai as Parliament Secretariat General Secretary.
The position was vacant after the then General Secretary Surya Kiran Gurung was appointed as an ambassador designate for Russia three years ago.
Bhattarai was serving as acting General Secretary since Nov. 18, 2007.
The appointment effective from Wednesday was announced by President Yadav as per the recommendation of Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang. Bhattarai entered civil service in 1980 as the section officer in Rastriya Panchayat and has served in different positions under the parliamentary system endorsed in 1990.
