President Yadav urges Prachanda to act responsibly
KATHMANDU, MAR 17 -
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Wednesday urged UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to act responsibly in his capacity as the leader of the main opposition party.
Dahal went to meet President Yadav at the latter’s office in Sheetal Niwas this evening.
According to President Yadav’s personal aide Lalit Basnet, the president during the 40-minute long discussion with Dahal urged the latter to act responsibly and cooperate in the drafting of the new constitution.
“It’s important to take complete the task of statue drafting and concluding the peace process. Everyone should strive to take the peace process to promulgate the new constitution to a logical end,” said Basnet, quoting the president as telling Dahal.
While Maoist Chairman Dahal said he discussed the current political situation and that the need to give a new momentum to the political path. He informed that he talked about the same issues, which he discussed with ailing Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala earlier this afternoon.
Shortly before Koiral’s discharge from Sahid Gangalal Heart Center in Bansbari, Dahal had met NC President Koirala. Following the meeting, Dahal said, during a brief meeting with him, Koirala asked him to “shoulder the responsibility”.
Talking to reporters after meeting the president, Dahal said he informed about his meeting with Koirala and discussed the need to move change the avenue by taking into account the crisis facing the country.
He added the discussion figured the constitution drafting and the peace process, among other issues.
