BANKE, MAR 17 -

Minister for Information and Communications Shanker Pokharel said that the UCPN (Maoist) will not get the chance to lead the government until it transforms itself completely into a civilian or non-military party.

Saying that the Maoists will not be a complete civilian party as long as it posses its military wing, Minister Pokharel thus said the responsibility of leadership can not be bestowed to the party.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Banke chapter of Press Chautari today, Minister Pokharel urged the Maoists to leave the greed of power and head towards constitution drafting by forging consensus with other political parties.

He said the salaries of the combatants can not be released until the Maoists provide the government with the full information of the combatants.

Minister Pokharel also warned that alternative ways will be adopted if the Maoists fail to provide detail information of the combatants with their respective ID's.
