Banspani Killings: B.K. released, kin receive bodies
BARDIYA, MAR 17 - Bardiya National Park (BNP) authorities has released Krishna B.K., an alleged poacher arrested in the Banspani incident in which two women and a 12-year-old girl were shot dead by Nepal Army (NA) soldiers.
The BNP authority freed B.K., a resident of Hariharpur-2 in Surkhet on Wednesday. He lost his wife, daughter and sister-in-law in the shooting on the night of March 10.
NA had taken B.K. into the park's custody. Chief Conservation Officer at BNP Tikaram Adhikari said Krishna was released on humanitarian grounds.
Following BK's release, kin of the victims received bodies that were kept at Bardiya District Hospital for the past one week.
They had earlier refused to receive the bodies demanding action against the guilty soldiers, compensation to the victims' families and BK's unconditional release.
Meanwhile, National Human Rights Commission has sent a team to probe the killing.
