Govt mulling winter House session
KATHMANDU, MAR 17 -
The government has been preparing to summon the winter session of the legislature parliament starting April 4.
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has asked Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Nemwang to recommend the president to summon the winter session of the House starting April 4 after discussing with the chief whips of the major parties.
As per the provision in the Interim Constitution, the president summons the winter session in the recommendation of the prime minister and the CA chair.
The winter session has been summoned not to affect the summer session.
Earlier, the budget session of the parliament was adjourned months following the disruption by the UCPN (Maoist) and other parties.
The Maoists had disrupted the parliament for months demanding for the establishment of civilian supremacy, which they said was breached by the President's move to reinstate the then army chief, and the formation of new government under their leadership, among others.
